1. Analog or Digital?
\nI love knobs and buttons. I love structures imposed by limitations. I
\nlove the objects, the parts and pieces that you can physically
\nassemble in various configurations. I love constant, organic variation
\nand unpredictability.
\nI love cheap, accessible technology that levels the playing field. I
\nlove economical, extraordinarily compact storage for information and
\nmedia. I love my iPhone (most of the time).<\/p>\n

2. What time did you wake up today?
\nAround 4:30am and then again at 6:50am.<\/p>\n

3. Last thing you read?
\nSynchronicity by F. David Peat and an article in Saveur on Swedish
\nfood culture. I\u2019m always reading a couple of really different things
\nat the same time so that I can switch if I\u2019m not in the headspace for
\none or the other.<\/p>\n

4. Whats your first memory?
\nMy first clear memory is of eating cherry pie at my grandparent\u2019s
\nrestaurant in North Carolina and being taken back to the kitchen to
\nsee the chef\u2019s Smurf collection.<\/p>\n

5. Tea Or Coffee?
\nBoth. I spent eight years working in the tea world and the last four
\nin the coffee world. My apartment is full of brewing devices.<\/p>\n

6. Last thing you cooked?
\nBroccoli rabe with garlic, sherry and pecorino romano, sweet pea
\nrisotto, and salmon baked with lemon and olive oil in parchment paper.<\/p>\n

7. If you’re reborn who or what would you like to be?
\nA tree.<\/p>\n

8. What inspires you?
\nLots of things\u2026 I would say that being in nature is massive for me.
\nThat\u2019s one of the reasons why I live where I do. The Oregon coast
\nblows my mind every time I go out there. It\u2019s my church.<\/p>\n

9. Last record you played?
\nA Orillas del Magdalena – Coastal Cumbias from Colombia\u2019s Disco
\nFuentes (Domino Sound 024)<\/p>\n

10. Favorite piece of musical equipment?
\nMy bass clarinet. A 1960\u2019s Selmer Series 9 I inherited from my
\ngrandfather. I\u2019ve played a lot of nice clarinets, but that one feels
\nlike an extension of my body. It\u2019s part of me now.<\/p>\n

11. Last movie you saw?
\nBill Cunningham New York<\/p>\n

12. Who do you love?
\nMy wife Heather. I love a lot of people, but no one as much as her.<\/p>\n

13. Do you have any pets?
\nTwo cats. Brothers. Hoover and Britches.<\/p>\n

14. Are you useful?
\nDepends on who you ask.<\/p>\n

15. Biggest fear?
\nBeing alone. I know I should be comfortable with it, but I grew up in
\na massive family and have lived with people I love my whole life. It\u2019s
\nhard for me to enjoy anything thoroughly unless I have someone to
\nshare it with.<\/p>\n

16. What do you value the most?
\nRelationships. See above.<\/p>\n

17. Famous last words?
\nI\u2019ll try anything once.<\/p>\n
