The Crack In The Cosmic Egg 0

Kraut, Kosmische, Progressive, Experimental, Electronic and other Musik from Germany’s lush 1970s underground scenes. The Crack In The Cosmic Egg is Steven and Alan Freeman’s (of Audion magazine) loving encyclopedia of Krautrock. Seriously exhaustive. My only wish is that there were more stories/lore about the bands and maybe more naked shots of Faust recording at the provincial farm. Oh well, trip out!

A “light” version of the tome is available here sans images and with only about 1/3 the original text though it still has all the essential stuff. Hell, just about everything else I doubt you’d ever be able to find a proper copy of anyway.

Stay tuned for some Kraut/Kosmische primers of lesser known material.

Ryan and I took a trip down the street to the record store and threw on some records where Karen was winding down the day over there. Recorded sound veritè style to Zoom H4 — bus sounds, customers, and all. I guess Eric Isaacson (who owns the shop and co-runs the label) is interviewing Mingering Mike for Yeti Magazine later this week. Mike McGonigal of Yeti makes a cameo on here as well if you listen close enough.

-Scott Goodwin

Scott Goodwin is resident of Portland Oregon, an avid tea drinker, a cook and a member of the band Bonus. Root Strata will be releasing his first solo cd “Off Light” later this year.
