Keith Fullerton Whitman – Dream House Variations (Stereo Mixdown)
” 6-hour 13-minute 12-second excerpt of a 24-hour stereo mixdown of the 8-channel, 4-cassette piece … if you’re just interested in having said excerpt on your phone or whatever for walking-around listening, just click the “downwards arrow” button at the very right of the player, then the “download for free” button (it’s 683 mb – 256 kbps – should burn nicely to a single mp3 cd) it’s essentially the master tape of an installation piece, designed for extended trance-out …”

This is really interesting. I never thought I’d find a proper full stereo mix of this. I’ve been playing with only 3 of the tapes, as I have only 3 tape players: a normal one from my component system, an old Panasonic boombox and my 4-Track. The 4-Track provides numerous additional variables. It’s extremely engaging to alter these tapes during playback, and the aleatoric results are always rewarding. This download is exciting. Very nice; and great to find a response to this oddly overlooked release by Whitman.
