Thanks a lot to Root Blog reader Mike N. for sending in these fantastic recordings he made with Javier this spring in Quito, Ecuador.
apparently rapidshare’s download limit reached.
URGH.
Ok, I’ll re-up shortly.
I love your blog.
Just amplifying the comment about RapidShare; the link is still ultimately inoperable at the time of this comment post.
Hi all,
This link should work: http://www.mediafire.com/?ntwymzmuvxy
Javier espinosa is a street musician from the historic center of the city of Quito, Ecuador. He sings and plays mostly mosaics (collages of songs you would hear on the radio) of bombas and salsas that he has constructed himself, with a drum he has made out of a barrel and some cuero de vaca (cow skin)..
I worked with Javier and his cousin Fanny for a little over a month, compiling this CD of his material with artwork and photos for him to sell and have another small source of income. Please contact me if you are interested in learning more about Javier, hearing more recordings, writing a review or receiving a physical copy of this disc.
