Eliane’s electronic music is never performed live but “presented” (“diffusée” in french) that is multi-channeled.
Eliane (and Manu Holterbach who is at the mixing desk here) were most certainly using the laptop as a cd player (“Trilogie de la Mort” has been digitized so there’s no point for Eliane to use the original tapes in a live context; only “Psi 847” is presented with the analog tapes, as it has never been properly digitized so far)
The rooftop of the Villa Arson art school in Nice is a stunning location, with a beautiful view on the bay. Eliane grew up in this city: she was at home!
(the date of the concert, 07 07 2011, was also of some importance for her, with regards to the moon phase but i don’t remember what she exactly had in mind when she asked for a concert on that specific date)
was this “performed” or multi-channel? i see a laptop and a mixing desk.
or was it just a playback of the regular recording?
looks like it was nice environment to have a shared experience with that piece.
