Dion Workman / Rohan Thomas – K
One of my favorite labels is the little known Sigma Editions started by Rosy Parlane and Dion Workman based originally out of Australia (now New York I believe). The aesthetic, the releases, the vibe is pretty singular.
This out-of-print “ultra minimal” release by Workman/Thomas is a grower. I recall not even liking it the first couple times I heard it, but after that, totally smitten… and it gets even better with every listen. Put corks in your ears otherwise your brain is gonna spill out.
Sigma is an astoundingly good label. ‘#1-4’ by Rosy Parlane is great too (although even better in its original triple 7″ lathe format), ‘Luxsound’ by Parmentier (Rosy & Dion’s post-Thela duo) is definitely in my top 5 when it comes to chronically underrated albums, the Minit albums are great, Julien Ottavi’s Nervure ‘Magnétique’ is great and ‘Gexto’ by Parlane is pretty good too (although its kind of a transitional work).
Buy Parmentier’s Luxsound if you see it. You won’t be disappointed.
ya i’ve picked up almost all the sigma releases.
my favorite, and still in print, is David Haines’ “Emo”. check it out!

Thanks for posting this, I’ve always been curious to hear more of Workman’s music since his interesting release with Julien Ottavi on Erstwhile. And second the recommendation for the Haines releases on Sigma.
